Artist comments

Oroqen is a minority living in the north of China.
In the long years, Oroqen people lived by hunting in the forests of Daxing 'an Mountains.
They believed that they were a part of the earth like all life in the forest.
China's traditional line drawing method is adopted, and decorative details of Chinese painting are added on the basis of realism, so as to convey the unique life flavor of Oroqen people, the son of the forest, shown in the story.

The image is clean, with the white parts giving it a sense of breath, and the painting content is distinctive.

The use of traditional Chinese styles is beautiful and gives a special identity to Jiuer's work. I love how he uses white as another color and integrates it efficiently into his compositions. The pencil and watercolor strokes gives a warmth feeling to the animal and character designs.
The art process gives the artist the chance to overcome the constraints of his preferred medium but also gives the chance to play around with his very own and beautiful human constraints.
AI deprived us from this. Stay strong.

The realistic and traditional Chinese line art technique is like reading a wonderful fairytale.
Also the artist's illustrations are in the sweet spot of realism and painting. The daily life of the Oroqen people is expressed like a watercolor in wonderful texture.

The works depicting ethnic minorities in China look like textbooks or illustrated books, and even if you are not familiar with these ethnic groups, you can get a good idea of what kind of people they are just from the illustrations.
The expressions and movements of the animals as well as the people are well captured and depicted.
