審査員評I have to admit that in book illustration, I have several favorite techniques. One such technique is multi-character compositions, where each character has their own unique purpose. I really like the works in which the artist does not unite all the secondary characters into a common faceless mass but instead gives each of them a special role and appearance. This is how, in my understanding, the artist's love for his creation is expressed. I was happy to find all this in the works of xie lv. And most of all I remember the emotions of the horses playing polo :) This is so wonderful! Ekaterina Borodacheva I like Xie’s use of color—fresh, see-through, with an overall bright tone—yet she also managed to create an ordered value hierarchy. A common phenomenon in this series is the presence of strong form language in each painting, such as symmetry and parallel structures. I wonder if she could break these dominant forms a bit more to introduce more variation. That said, I really enjoy watching Xie’s beautiful creativity. Max Liu The artist skillfully uses anthropomorphism of humans and animals, allowing viewers to easily identify the main character without disrupting the overall harmony of the composition. The design of each character’s costume, expression, and posture highlights their unique traits, inviting careful observation and appreciation. Moon Q Xie Lv’s work is structured around multi-figure compositions that reference narrative friezes or ceremonial scrolls. Characters are arranged in clear horizontal bands, echoing traditional storytelling formats while allowing space for individual actions and expressions. Despite the overall static framing, the artist creates a sense of movement through small gestures, rhythmic repetition, and implied storylines. The gentle rendering and uniform lighting unify the scenes into a warm, immersive world populated by soft-edged, expressive animal figures. Nadiia Zhelieznova The author uses cute, anthropomorphic animal figures as the main subjects of the picture, giving the characters distinctive personalities and dynamic vitality through rounded modelling and vivid portrayal of expression. The author uses soft and warm colours to create a joyful atmosphere of banquet, playing polo and celebrating festivals, providing viewers with a pleasant visual experience. Special attention is paid to the fact that in the composition of the first and second picture planes which draws on the characteristics of ancient Chinese figure paintings from the Tang dynasty, using flat spatial treatment to highlight the main figure. This demonstrates the author's research on traditional painting and her innovation in a contemporary context. Yimin Wang |
