Artist's comments

These are part of the “storage series”, a series of drawings that depict my beautiful memories (memories I don't want to forget, images I want to store) for each of the 12 months. Motifs associated with that month are arranged and stored in transparent containers of various shapes. While enjoying observing plants, animals, and sculptures, I sometimes draw them with gratitude and prayers for my life and our planet.

 審査員評

Acari Hayashi invites us into a gallery of her memories, carefully selected over a year. The most valuable and fragile exhibits are kept here in transparent vessels of a suitable shape. This is not an herbarium with dry plants that have lost their color, nor a collection of butterflies pinned with a pin. Everything here is alive. And the viewer is conveyed the reverent attitude with which the artist created his works.

I really like the combination of simplicity and complexity in this series. Hayashi drew some of the environmental elements and frames in a line art style, which contrasts beautifully with the well-rendered, fully polished elements. Besides that, the shapes of the line frames are coherent with the themes of each painting, which is very smart and impressive.

The main subjects are depicted with great detail, while the periphery is outlined with extremely simple lines, creating a striking contrast. Objects that would not normally coexist in the same space are brought together into a harmonious whole.

Acari Hayashi creates poetic illustrations where realistic, finely detailed elements coexist with playful, graphic outlines. The contrast between volume and flatness gives the compositions a sense of airiness and rhythm. These miniature ecosystems feel precise yet imaginative, inviting the viewer to observe nature with curiosity and care.

The author constructs transparent, timeless, symbolic, ecological landscape containers on , and uses them to frame and preserve memories of the micro and macro worlds. The works are full of a unique aesthetic and artistic philosophy that is truly admirable. Adopting a modest and gentle perspective, the author uses delicate brushstrokes to capture and convey the beauty and sublimity of life.
