Artist's comments

1.A boat encounters islands, but the islands are actually ancient dragons. This an imaginary scene.
2.When the boats passed by the dragon woke up and gazing them.
3.This piece was created based on the observation and memories of my hometown and my Mom. At the south of China, this is the old style living building built in 90s.
4.The boy fell in love with the spirit born from the flower in the vase.
5.These fairies live in the forest, the forest is inspired by the forest near Tsuetate Onsen.

Judges' comments

I am having a hard time figuring out what to start with. We have fantasy and reality here, and both leave such a strong impression on me. On the one hand, mysterious dragon islands and forest fairies. On the other, the opportunity to touch the artist's precious memories and see her homeland places. TIAN GAN is a very versatile artist, and all sides of her talent definitely deserve attention.

Great polish—amazing shape designs and mood across the series. I especially love the stylization of the dragon islands and trees. That said, the overall level of detail and completeness could feel more coherent across the pieces.

The artist’s ability to control large-scale compositions is truly impressive. The handling of light and shadow, along with subtle color variations, effectively conveys the artist’s unique worldview — one in which every element seems to possess a life of its own.

An impressive range of works that spans from stylized minimalism to detailed world-building. Each piece demonstrates careful lighting and volume construction, suggesting experience with visual storytelling or game concept art. Despite the variety, the portfolio feels cohesive due to the consistent clarity of form and atmospheric depth.

The artist combines imagery of the 'dragon' from ancient, mysterious Oriental myths with her unique perception of natural landscapes, creating images imbued with cultural metaphors and symbols. She has a talent for filtering, extracting and recreating subjective images of specific scenes, which gives her work a unique disposition.
