The picture book "Be Yourself" is my first picture book. It is a story about, Abel used to often feel confused due to a lack of self-confidence facing different standards of her friends and other people. One night, Abel went for a divination which led her into an adventure. She entered the worlds of the divination cards, where she met several famous artists: Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo, Antoni Gaudí and Yayoi Kusama. After learning about their stories, Abel came to realize the key to living a happy life.
The book has 3 chapters. (192 pages)
The first chapter is about the past, when Abel is confused about life. Pale, greyish colour tone is used to convey this mood for the whole chapter.
The second chapter is about Abel's magical experience meeting with the 4 famous artists in her dream. Contrasted colour combinations are used to convey a mysterious mood of the chapter.
The third chapter is bright and colourful to convey the cheerful mood of Abel after knowing how to be herself in life.
Besides the book itself, there's a set of creative story telling card game that comes with the pack. The set consists of 50 cards - 10 artists, 5 cards per artist about their work. Players can play with friends making stories with the cards they've picked. The most creative storyteller will be the winner of the game. Furthermore, it is also a good way to learn more about the history/ background of these artists.

ほんわか系が多い出点作品の中、辛口なタッチに目が行き、通り過ぎそうになったけど、二度見をして視線を戻したら、なんとも言えない魅力溢れる作品で、リズム感というか何かバックミュージックが聞こえてきそうな存在感があるイラストで、配色、構図などデザインの要素もたっぷりと含んだ奥行きある作品です。日本語でぜひ読んでみたいです。

1冊の絵本作品の中で章によって色調を変えているという点が面白いです。 おしゃれで個性的なタッチのイラストはインパクトがあり、カラフルなトーンも、暗めのトーンも上手くまとめて描かれていると思います。
