《向著明亮那方》is a picture book commissioned with 浙江少兒出版社(Zhejiang Children's Publishing House), it collected 56 poems of the famous Japanese poet Misuzu Kaneko and translated by Fei Wu. I finished all illustrations in May 2023, and will be be published in early 2024. I created them in unique colour palatte and textures to differ from the printed books in the current market. Kaneko's poetry gave me a pure innocence of the true happiness, beauty mixed with light sadness of the world. So I tried to use bright colors, easy brushwork and abundent textures to create multi-layered atmosphere. The editor Lin Zhao also helped a lot with the book's childishness and free style.
